Anurag Kashyap, who has always been for not mincing his words and has been upfront about his views, has once again spoken his heart out on several matters from nationalism, to the 'Padmavat' controversy to national anthem being played in cinema halls. When questioned about nationalism being sold through cinema, in India, Kashyap said, "It is we filmmakers only who sell it." He added that they (filmmakers) all work in a herd and to "prove their patriotism" they "sell nationalism”. Giving his view on the national anthem being made optional in cinema halls, Anurag reportedly asserted that he doesn't think national anthem is necessary to be played before every show. He also added that he doesn't think it is a way to "honour" the national anthem.
He also opened up about the controversy surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavat'. Kashyap reportedly questioned how one could decide that a "film" is "dividing people into caste lines" without even watching it. He reportedly added that this does not only become a "political agenda", but some "big people" also give opinions on it. Anurag also reportedly feels that if one party does something, the opposite group does the exact opposite. And in his opinion, all this is just to gain attention.
