Zainab rape case: Latest video shows suspect calling 7-year-old towards him

A latest CCTV video went afloat which may prove to be a decisive link in catching the man accused of raping and murdering the 7-year-old Zainab.
The footage shows the elderly man calling Zainab towards him. The ongoing investigation in Zainab murder case appears to be limited to the video footages collected from the area.
Talking to media, Zainab’s father told that it is likely that the culprit belongs to some other city. He acknowledged that army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa had heard his appeal and tasked a team for the investigation. He said, “I am satisfied after Chief Justice and Army Chief took notice and tasked teams. I am thankful to army chief for his role.”
“Our family DNA was taken. If anyone from the family was culprit, he would have been traced down,” he added.
The 7-year-old’s father slammed police and its inability to catch the culprit despite the passage of several days, adding that they could have caught the culprit after Zainab disappeared.

Punjab IG fails to appear before LHC

Punjab Inspector General (IG) Captain (retd) Arif Nawaz Khan failed to appear in Lahore High Court (LHC) today despite the court’s summon.
The hearing of Zainab murder case was held by LHC Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah after a 36-hour deadline to arrest the culprit in Zainab murder case ended.
The judge expressed resentment over the IG’s absence and asked: “Why the IG did not appear before the court despite issuance of summon?”
He maintained that Zainab’s murder could have been avoided if the police had taken action in 2015 when the first case of serial killer was reported. LHC CJ directed to submit the complete record of the case till January 17.
Meanwhile, a third CCTV footage has surfaced which shows the seven-year-old girl running toward the suspect after he signaled her in his direction.
